• Cicatricial or scarring alopecia- growth of new hair is prohibited on scalp due to inflammation or damage to scars or hair follicle.
• Alopecia areata- an autoimmune disease
• Telogen effluvium- normal pattern of growth is inhibited due to emotional or physiological shock
